My hope in sharing my story is for all of us adoptees and parents to understand the framework of the 7 Core Issues ( which I have changed the wording to 7 Core Learnings)
I think Learnings is a much more positive and encouraging word than Issues – Issues can seem like there is something wrong with us – When there ABSOLUTELY is not -Where as Learnings is what we need to do with these 7 Core – Learn about them
What are the 7 Core Learnings?
Loss, Rejection, Shame & Guilt, Grief, Identity, Intimacy, Mastery & Control
Labelling, Recognizing and Understanding these Core Learnings are important for us to understand ourselves and our families
I have written this story not to “theorize” the Core Learning but to put them into practice

Cindy Stewart is an Adoptee & Mom of 3 fantastic young adults – 2 who joined their family through adoption She has been working with families in the permanency journey for the past 8 years as part of the Adoption Council of Ontario’s Pact program She is also a Private Investigator assisting Adult Adoptees & Original families in their Search & Reunion journeys
